Classes taught by Tyler Mecham

Tyler Mecham

Tyler is a talented high school junior with six years of experience in competitive robotics. His journey through robotics has given him a strong foundation in engineering, problem-solving, and teamwork — but what excites him most now is sharing that passion with younger students. With a deep love for robotics and technology, Tyler brings both skill and creativity to every project he takes on.

What sets Tyler apart is the way he connects with kids. He has a natural gift for making learning feel fun, approachable, and exciting — more like hanging out with a friend than sitting in a classroom. Whether he’s guiding students through a tricky build, sparking their curiosity with new ideas, or celebrating small victories, Tyler creates an environment where kids feel confident, supported, and inspired to explore the world of robotics and engineering.

*His mom Angel Mecham  (Alliance Director) is always available during class times for back up, but he has never needed it, the kids love to hang out and learn with Tyler.

Class Description:

Get ready to build, create, and explore at our Robotics & Engineering Camp! Each week you’ll get to design cool robots, learn how to make them move, and try out fun challenges like racing through mazes, following lines, each week will have a new and exciting challenge. You’ll discover how gears, sensors, and coding work together to bring your ideas to life.

This camp isn’t just about robots — it’s about having fun with friends, working as a team, and using your imagination to solve problems in creative ways. By the end, you’ll get to show off your awesome projects in a big celebration. If you love building, tinkering, and trying new things, this camp is the perfect place for you!

Course Objectives:

  • Classroom Instruction (Wednesdays for 90 Minutes Each):

**Students may be dropped of as early as 3:00pm and we will have some activities for them to work on until class starts at 3:15pm

  •  In this 8-week Robotics & Engineering Camp, students will design and build a brand-new robot each week while exploring a key engineering concept. From building strong structures and experimenting with gears to programming movement and adding sensors, every session introduces a new challenge that combines creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. By the end of the camp, students will have a collection of robots they’ve created, a toolbox of engineering skills, and the confidence to keep exploring the exciting world of robotics.
