In Exploring Music, students will experience the joy of making music by learning to play three different instruments throughout the year: piano, ukulele, and recorder. This rotating unit-based class allows students to gain hands-on experience with each instrument while developing a strong foundation in music literacy, rhythm, and performance skills. No prior music experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to learn and have fun!
The year is divided into three main units, with approximately 12 weeks spent on each:
Each unit is designed to introduce new skills while reinforcing overall musicianship, creativity, and music appreciation. By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation in three instruments and a deeper understanding of how music works—all while having a great time making music together!

In Learning Through Music, young learners will explore the magic of music while developing important early learning skills in a fun and engaging environment. This class uses songs, movement, rhythm instruments, and interactive musical activities to help children build foundational skills in language, coordination, listening, and social interaction.
Music is a powerful tool for early childhood learning, and this class is designed to reinforce basic concepts such as numbers, letters, colors, and patterns through singing, dancing, and play. Children will develop a love for music while also strengthening their motor skills, following directions, and expressing their creativity.

In our Little Musicians class, early elementary students will embark on a fun and engaging musical journey designed to introduce them to the world of sound, rhythm, and melody. Through singing, dancing, playing simple instruments, and music games, children will explore the basic elements of music in a hands-on, interactive way. This class lays the foundation for developing a love of music, while fostering important skills such as listening, coordination, creativity, and teamwork.

Introduction to Band will be a dynamic class designed to introduce middle school students to the world of instrumental music. In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of playing a brass, woodwind, or percussion instrument, while also developing basic music theory, reading music, and ensemble performance skills. The focus will be on building technical proficiency and understanding how individual instruments come together to create harmonious group performances.
Students will receive personalized instruction on their chosen instrument, beginning with proper playing techniques, note reading, and simple exercises to build their musical skills. As the year progresses, students will practice performing in an ensemble, learning how to work together as a band to produce cohesive and exciting music. No prior musical experience is required—just an enthusiasm for learning and making music with others!

Introduction to Strings is a beginner-level class designed to introduce middle school students to the beautiful world of string instruments. In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of playing the violin, viola, cello, or bass, focusing on proper posture, finger placement, bowing technique, and basic music theory. This course provides a fun, supportive environment where students can develop the skills needed to play in a group setting while gaining confidence as individual musicians.
Throughout the year, students will practice basic note reading, rhythm, and articulation, while learning simple melodies and ensemble pieces. As students progress, they will also gain an understanding of how string instruments contribute to orchestra and ensemble music. No prior experience is required—only a passion for learning and making music!

Introduction to Ukulele is a fun and engaging class designed to introduce middle school students to the joys of playing the ukulele. In this class, students will learn the basics of the instrument, including how to properly tune, strum, and play simple chords, as well as how to read chord charts and sheet music. The ukulele is a perfect instrument for beginners, and this course provides a supportive and energetic environment for students to build their musical skills.
Students will explore a variety of musical styles, from folk and pop to traditional Hawaiian music, while developing essential skills such as rhythm, chord transitions, and simple melodies. As the class progresses, students will have the opportunity to perform solo and group pieces, fostering teamwork and performance confidence. No previous musical experience is required—just a love of music and a desire to learn!
By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation in ukulele playing, and they will be ready to continue exploring more complex songs and techniques in future classes.

Intermediate Ukulele is designed for students who have mastered the basics of ukulele playing and are ready to take their skills to the next level. In this class, students will deepen their understanding of the ukulele, focusing on more complex chords, advanced strumming techniques, and fingerpicking patterns. The course emphasizes both individual skill development and ensemble playing, allowing students to explore a variety of musical styles and genres while refining their technique.
Students will learn to play more challenging songs, enhance their ability to read and interpret chord charts, and explore new ways to accompany themselves while singing or playing in a group. This class will also cover more advanced music theory concepts, including key signatures, chord inversions, and the use of dynamics and articulation to bring out the expressive qualities of the ukulele. Previous experience playing the ukulele is required, and students should be comfortable with basic chords and strumming patterns.
By the end of the course, students will have honed their ukulele skills, developed confidence in performing challenging pieces, and will be ready to explore more advanced ukulele techniques in future lessons.
