As a young mom, she brings a warm and caring energy to her teaching, making every lesson feel personal and engaging. Her love for music is contagious, and she has an incredible ability to help students not only appreciate music but also excel in ways they never thought possible. Class Description:

 Get ready to blast off into a world of imagination! In Adventures in Writing, beginning writers will explore the magic of storytelling through fun, hands-on activities that build confidence and creativity. Whether they’re inventing a silly character, describing a far-off land, or writing about a real-life adventure, students will learn how to turn their ideas into exciting stories. Through games, drawing prompts, and group sharing, this class will help students grow as writers and discover just how fun writing can be!

Perfect for all skill levels, this class encourages self-expression, strengthens basic writing skills, and helps young learners fall in love with the writing process.

Course Objectives:

  By the end of this class, students will:

 

  • Learn the basics of storytelling – including characters, setting, plot, and structure.
     
  • Grow their descriptive language and expand their vocabulary to make writing vivid and exciting.
     
  • Explore different types of writing – from fiction and personal narratives to poetry, letters, and journal entries.
     
  • Strengthen sentence-building and grammar in age-appropriate, playful ways.
     
  • Engage in creative prompts, drawing activities, and group storytelling games that bring writing to life.
     
  • Practice editing and revising their work with teacher guidance and gentle peer feedback.
     
  • Build confidence in sharing their ideas through regular author sharing times.
     
  • Create a writing portfolio filled with stories, poems, and creative pieces that showcase their growth.
     

By the end of the year, students will see themselves as real authors with important ideas to share and the tools to bring them to life on the page. Every class is an adventure—and every writer has a story to tell!

Prerequisite skills need for this class:

 

  • Basic handwriting ability – Can write and form most letters correctly.
     
  • Beginning sentence writing – Can write simple sentences 


  • Letter-sound knowledge – Has a strong grasp of phonics and can sound out/spell basic words independently.
     
  • Listening and focus skills – Can listen to instructions and participate in group activities for short periods.
     
  • Fine motor skills – Able to hold a pencil, draw simple pictures, and use writing tools comfortably.
     
  • Basic reading ability – Can read simple sentences or short stories and recognize sight words.
     
  • Willingness to try – Open to sharing ideas and trying new things, even if writing is still a developing skill.

Class Description:

  This Creative Writing class is designed to inspire  students to express themselves through the written word. Over the course of our time together, students will explore various forms of writing, including short stories, poetry, essays, and more, while also focusing on creativity, storytelling techniques, and self-expression. Through guided exercises, group discussions, and peer reviews, students will learn how to develop their ideas, organize their thoughts, and refine their writing skills.

Whether they are new to writing or looking to strengthen their skills, this class provides a fun and supportive environment for students to grow as writers. By the end of the year, students will have built a portfolio of their creative works and will be more confident in their ability to share their ideas with others.

Course Objectives:

  By the end of this class, students will:

  • Discover and experiment with different writing styles and genres (fiction, poetry, personal essays, etc.).
     
  • Develop their voices as writers through creative exercises and prompts.
     
  • Understand and apply writing techniques such as plot structure, character development, dialogue, and description.
     
  • Participate in peer review sessions to give and receive constructive feedback.
     
  • Build a portfolio of writing that showcases their progress and creativity.

Each class will typically follow this format:

Warm-Up Activity (5 minutes)

Class Description:

  This play-based, hands-on class is designed to help young learners develop the social, motor, and creative skills they need for a smooth transition into school. Through games, movement activities, art projects, and interactive storytelling, students will build confidence in a structured classroom setting while having fun and making friends. The focus will be on socialization, fine and gross motor skills, communication, teamwork, and following directions—all in a positive and encouraging environment.

Course Objectives:

  

By the end of this class, students will:
 

  • Develop social skills through group play, sharing, and turn-taking
  •  Strengthen fine motor skills (cutting, drawing, writing, and manipulating small objects)
     
  • Improve gross motor coordination through movement and physical activities

Class Description:

 This high-energy class is all about having fun while moving! Through a variety of games, team challenges, obstacle courses, and movement-based activities, students will develop their coordination, teamwork, and physical confidence. Whether playing classic playground games, learning new skills, or working together in team-building activities, kids will discover that movement is not just exercise—it’s a blast!

This class is perfect for students who love to move, as well as those who need encouragement to find joy in physical activity in a low-pressure, supportive environment.

Course Objectives:

  By the end of this class, students will:

  • Improve coordination, agility, and balance through active play
     
  • Build teamwork and sportsmanship in cooperative and competitive games
     
  • Develop problem-solving and strategic thinking through movement challenges

Class Description:

 Math is everywhere, and this class is designed to show students just how fun and exciting it can be! Through games, hands-on activities, puzzles, and real-world applications, students will develop confidence in their math skills while having a blast. We will focus on number sense, basic operations, patterns, problem-solving, and logic skills, all in a relaxed and engaging environment.

This class is perfect for young learners who are still developing foundational math skills or those who need a little extra encouragement to see math as an adventure, not just a subject!

 By the end of this class, students will:

  • Develop a strong number sense and foundational math skills
  • Learn math through games, puzzles, and hands-on activities
  • Discover how math is used in real life (shopping, cooking, measuring, and more!)

Class Description:

  This Vocal Workshop class is designed to help students develop their vocal skills, enhance their musical ear, and discover their unique singing voices. Throughout this course, students will focus on improving their vocal techniques, such as breath control, pitch accuracy, tone, and expression. The class will also provide an introduction to songwriting, giving students the opportunity to explore their creativity and learn how to write their own original songs. Whether they are beginners or have previous vocal experience, students will receive personalized feedback and guidance to help them grow and become more confident in their abilities.

In addition to vocal exercises and song practice, students will be encouraged to experiment with different genres of music and collaborate with their peers. By the end of the course, students will have a better understanding of vocal technique, songwriting, and performance, and will have created and performed original songs. This class offers a fun, supportive environment for students to explore their passion for music and develop both as vocalists and songwriters.

  • Develop Vocal Techniques: Improve pitch, tone, breath control, and vocal flexibility.
     
  • Learn Music Theory: Basic music theory concepts to understand melody, harmony, and rhythm.

Class Description:

 This Musical Theater class is designed for students ages 8-16 who are eager to explore the world of theater and performance. Over the course of the year, students will learn the essential skills of acting, singing, and dancing that come together to create a cohesive musical production. They will work on building their theater abilities and collaborate with classmates to prepare for a spring performance. Students will have a unique opportunity to help choose the production they will present, working as a team to decide on the musical that best suits their talents and interests.

In addition to rehearsing for the final production, students will focus on developing strong stage presence, vocal technique, dance routines, and acting skills. Whether they have experience in theater or are beginners, students will receive individual coaching to help them grow in their abilities. By the end of the year, they will gain confidence in performing in front of an audience and learn the teamwork and dedication required for a successful theater production

Course Objectives:

  Throughout the year, students will:

  • Learn Theater Basics: Develop acting, Improv, singing, and dancing techniques.
     
  • Rehearse for a Production: Prepare for a class musical or play, with students contributing ideas to the selection process.
     
  • Focus on Stage Presence: Build confidence in performing in front of an audience.
     
  • Collaborate as a Team: Work together as a cast to achieve a common goal, fostering teamwork and communication.
     
  • Improve Vocal and Dance Skills: Enhance singing and movement abilities to be integrated into a performance setting.
     
  • Practice Performance Techniques: Gain experience in blocking, memorization, and character development.

Class Structure:

   Each class will typically follow this structure:

Warm-Up (5 minutes)
 

  • Vocal and physical warm-ups to prepare for singing, dancing, and acting.
     
  • Breathing exercises to support vocal control and relaxation.
     

Skill Building (20 minutes)
 

  • Focus on either singing, dancing, or acting depending on the needs of the production.
     
  • Acting exercises to improve emotional expression, timing, and characterization.
     
  • Dance routines tailored to the style of the production.
     

Rehearsal for the Production (30 minutes)
 

  • Students will rehearse specific scenes, songs, and choreography for the production.
     
  • Practice lines, blocking, and staging for a cohesive performance.
     
  • Instructor-led feedback and refinement to improve individual and group performances.
     

Closing Reflection (5 minutes)
 

  • Brief class discussions or group sharing on the day's progress.

Class Description:

  

The Young Voices Ensemble Youth Choir is an exciting, inclusive class where students of all backgrounds and skill levels can come together to explore the power of music and community. This choir will sing a wide range of songs, including both religious and contemporary pieces, offering something for everyone while encouraging vocal growth and harmony. Throughout the year, students will participate in special performances, including the annual  Nativity at the Festival of Trees, as well as both the Fall and Spring Showcases for Alliance. These events will give students the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience, showcasing their hard work and dedication.

In this class, students will develop essential choir skills, including pitch accuracy, harmony, breath control, and stage presence. The choir will work on building vocal technique, teamwork, and the joy of making music together. Whether they are seasoned singers or new to choir, all students will benefit from a positive, encouraging environment that fosters creativity, confidence, and community spirit. Students will also have the chance to work on vocal arrangements and express themselves through music while being part of a unified group that works toward shared musical goals.

Course Objectives:

 Over the year, students will:

  • Learn Vocal Technique: Develop skills such as pitch, tone, harmony, and breath control.
     
  • Explore a Variety of Songs: Sing both religious and contemporary pieces, allowing students to experience different styles of music.
