Tara Larsen

Tara Larsen is a dedicated educator passionate about fostering curiosity and a love of learning

in her students. She teaches STEAM, World Geography, and US Geography, integrating quality

literature into her lessons to enhance learning. Tara holds a bachelor's degree in Integrated

Studies from Utah State University and is currently working on her STEM Educational Instructor

certification. In addition to her teaching career, she has been homeschooling her younger two

children for the past seven years. She has a deep love for books, enjoys growing things, and

finds joy in her faith in Jesus Christ. Outside of the classroom, she cherishes time spent with her

husband, five children, and two grandchildren.

Class Overview:

In this hands-on class, students explore the exciting world of STEAM, which stands for Science,

Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Each class begins with a quality book that

introduces key concepts related to one of the STEAM disciplines. After the story, students dive

into a fun and creative STEAM project that encourages them to think outside the box and

express their creativity. Teamwork is an essential part of the class, as students collaborate to

build problem-solving skills, improve communication, and develop social skills. It’s a lively and

engaging way for young learners to explore, create, and grow in both knowledge and

imagination! This class is on a 3-year rotation so students can continue to take the class for

multiple years without repeating material.

U.S. Geography for grades 3-5

Class Overview:

In this engaging 2-year revolving class, students explore the diverse regions of the United

States, focusing on one state each week. In Year 1, we dive into the Northeast, Southeast, and

Southwest regions, discovering the history, culture, geography, and capital of each state. In

class, we will read a high quality chapter book related to each region, as well as enhance our

understanding through mapwork, notebooking, art, food, songs, games, and stories. This

hands-on approach makes learning about the United States both fun and educational, giving

students a deeper appreciation for our country’s rich history and diversity.

Course Highlights:

  

  • Two-Year Rotating Curriculum – Students can take the class for multiple years without repeating content.
     
  • Explore One State Per Week – Learn about each state’s history, culture, geography, and capital.
