Tara Larsen

Tara Larsen is a dedicated educator passionate about fostering curiosity and a love of learning

in her students. She may teach STEAM classes, but strives, whenever possible, to integrate quality literature into her lessons to enhance learning. Tara holds a bachelor's degree in Integrated Studies from Utah State University and is currently working on her STEM Educational Instructor certification. In addition to her teaching career, she has been homeschooling her younger two children for the past seven years. She has a deep love for books, enjoys growing things, and finds joy in her faith in Jesus Christ. Outside of the classroom, she cherishes time spent with her husband, five children, and two grandchildren.

Class Overview:

In this hands-on class, students explore the exciting world of STEAM, which stands for Science,

Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Each class begins with a quality book that

introduces key concepts related to one of the STEAM disciplines. After the story, students dive

into a fun and creative STEAM project that encourages them to think outside the box and

express their creativity. Teamwork is an essential part of the class, as students collaborate to

build problem-solving skills, improve communication, and develop social skills. It’s a lively and

engaging way for young learners to explore, create, and grow in both knowledge and

imagination! This class is on a 3-year rotation so students can continue to take the class for

multiple years without repeating material.

  • Story-Based Lessons – Each class begins with a high-quality book that introduces key STEAM concepts in an exciting way.

  • Collaboration & Teamwork – Group activities help develop social skills, communication, and cooperative learning.
     
  • Encourages Creativity & Exploration – Open-ended projects allow students to think outside the box and express their ideas in new ways.
     
  • Three-Year Rotating Curriculum – Students can take the class for multiple years without repeating material, ensuring fresh and exciting challenges each session.
     
  • Builds a Strong Foundation in STEAM – Helps young learners develop a love for science, technology, engineering, art, and math through hands-on discovery.
