A learning pod is a small, instructor-led group where children engage in focused, personalized education. These pods can vary in structure— for example some may meet multiple days a week, covering all core and enrichment subjects for a small group of 4th graders, while others may gather once a week for a deep dive into a single subject like science, writing, or music. The flexibility allows independent instructors to tailor lessons to students' needs, fostering a collaborative, engaging, and supportive learning environment. The cost will vary greatly depending on what the Learning Pod will be covering, the cost is set by the independent instructor.
All Learning Pod Instructors are required to pass a background check. However, Alliance does not regulate the material each instructor teaches, we do share the syllabus the teacher is planning to use, however we suggest you direct your questions to the Pod provider directly. You will be able to find their contact info on their individual pod page links below.

A learning pod is a small group of students who meet regularly in a private home or small setting to receive instruction from an experienced educator. Often described as a “microschool,” this model allows for personalized learning in a supportive and low-ratio environment. Because the group is small, the instructor is able to tailor lessons to the students’ individual needs, learning styles, and interests, creating a more flexible and engaging educational experience than many traditional classrooms offer.
Learning pods can vary in format—some may meet multiple days a week and cover a full range of core subjects, while others may meet once a week to focus on a specific topic, such as science, writing, or geography. This flexibility allows families to choose the learning environment and content that best fits their needs while fostering strong relationships between students, teachers, and parents. While we began in our own small rural hometown, we believe this innovative and community-centered approach to education can thrive anywhere. Our hope is to support and inspire learning pods in every community, giving more families the opportunity to experience meaningful, connection-driven learning.
