how do i choose a curriculum?

Know your students learning Style:

Understanding your student's learning style is key to making homeschooling effective and enjoyable. Whether they learn best through hands-on activities, visual aids, listening, or reading and writing, tailoring lessons to their strengths can improve comprehension and engagement. Paying attention to how they absorb information helps create a customized approach that makes learning more natural and enjoyable, setting them up for success.

What are Core classes?

A core class is a fundamental subject that builds essential skills for academic growth, including math, language arts, science, and social studies. While all core subjects are important, math and language arts should be practiced daily to develop strong problem-solving and communication skills. Science and social studies, on the other hand, can often be effectively covered with one or two focused lessons per week, using hands-on activities, projects, and discussions to reinforce learning

What are Supplemental classes?

Supplemental or Enrichment classes are subjects and activities that go beyond core academics to enhance a student's education and personal growth. These can include art, music, foreign language, physical education, coding, life skills, and hands-on STEM projects. They provide opportunities for creativity, critical thinking, and exploration of interests while helping to develop well-rounded learners. While not always required, enrichment classes add depth and enjoyment to a homeschool curriculum, making learning more engaging and fulfilling.

Choosing a curriculum that matches your students learning style.

Matching a curriculum to your students' learning style is essential for keeping them engaged and ensuring they absorb information effectively. A visual learner may thrive with colorful workbooks and videos, while a hands-on learner benefits from interactive activities and experiments. Online curricula offer structure, interactive lessons, and automated grading, making them ideal for tech-savvy or independent learners. In contrast, an open-and-go curriculum provides physical materials with minimal prep, making it a great choice for parents who prefer a more flexible, hands-on approach. Choosing the right format helps create a more enjoyable and successful learning experience for both the student and the parent.

Some of our favorite curriculum providers:

Alliance In-Person Classes:

Our innovative in-person classes are led by passionate instructors who engage students through interactive and dynamic learning experiences. By fostering curiosity and creativity, they inspire a love for learning that goes beyond the classroom. Most of our supplemental classes are held once per week, allowing students to explore new interests while maintaining a flexible schedule. A few enrichment classes meet twice weekly for deeper engagement and skill-building. Additionally, our Pre-Algebra core class is held twice a week, with daily homework assignments to reinforce key concepts and ensure students develop a strong mathematical foundation. Through this balanced approach, we provide meaningful education that supports both academic growth and personal development.
