Class Description:

In this hands-on 9-month creative course, students will explore a variety of artistic skills while turning their ideas into real, tangible creations they can use, display, keep, or gift. Throughout the year, students will dive into lettering, printmaking, bookbinding, collage, pattern-making, and tapestry weaving while learning how art and design can become functional, meaningful pieces.

This class is perfect for creative students who love working with their hands, experimenting with new materials, and bringing imaginative ideas to life.

Course Objectives:

This course is designed to help students experience the joy of creating things that are both beautiful and useful. Each project will introduce foundational artistic techniques while encouraging creativity, personal expression, and craftsmanship.

Over the course of the year, students will create projects such as:

  • Handmade zines and bound books
  • Custom signs and decorative art
  • Personalized accessories and gifts
  • Woven tapestry pieces
  • Printed and patterned designs
  • Mixed media collage projects

Students will learn artistic processes step-by-step while gaining confidence in design, composition, texture, color, and creative problem-solving. By the end of the course, students will leave with a collection of handmade projects and practical creative skills they can continue using for years to come.
